Sept 26, 2019: DOE Selects Alphacore For Advanced Sensors And Instrumentation Program To Develop A Small Form Factor Video Sensor And Camera For Use In Radiation Environments

In this SBIR Phase 1 program, Alphacore will develop a small form factor video sensor and camera for use in applications such as visual inspection and non/destructive examination within a nuclear reactor. The camera will be able to withstand high temperature, high pressure and high radiation environments, while significantly improving the state of the art of cameras available for nuclear energy facilities. Alphacore will develop a custom/designed image sensor that meets the temperature and radiation tolerance requirements, along with a control board that also meets environmental requirements. The proposed CMOS camera will better equip nuclear power systems to detect and manage faults in instrumentation and control (I&C) systems and plant components, thus increasing power plant reliability, availability and resilience.
